Small Business Accounting and Bookkeeping
“Accounting for your business is our business.” Clean books are what turn a shoebox of receipts into a set of numbers you can make decisions with — and what makes tax season short instead of painful.
What we do each month
We can keep your books using our trained staff and a sophisticated computer accounting program, or we can set up and support you and your staff if you prefer to do it yourself. Either way the objective is the same: an accurate set of records, closed on a predictable schedule.
- Recording income and expenses from your bank feeds, statements and receipts
- Reconciling every bank, credit card and loan account each month
- Tracking accounts receivable and accounts payable so nothing is forgotten
- Recording fixed assets, depreciation and disposals properly
- Keeping owner draws and personal spending separate from business expenses
- Producing a profit and loss statement and balance sheet you can actually read
Financial statements
We perform compilations and reviews of your financial statements. If a lender, bonding company or prospective partner has asked for a statement in a particular form, tell us who is asking and we will work to their requirements and their deadlines.
Bookkeeping that has fallen behind
Catching up a neglected set of books is routine work for us. We will start by finding out how far behind things really are, then work forward month by month until you are current. Most clients are surprised by how quickly it comes together once the bank records are reconciled.
Helping you do it yourself
Plenty of owners want to keep their own books and simply need the structure to be right. We will set up the chart of accounts, show you what to record and where, and stay available for the questions that come up. Then we review the result before it feeds into your return, so a small misunderstanding does not turn into a large correction later.
Why it matters beyond the tax return
Accounting exists to answer questions: Is this line of work actually profitable? Can we afford another employee? What did that equipment really cost us over the year? What will the bank want to see? A business with current books can answer those in an afternoon. A business without them guesses, and guesses are expensive.

- Owner-operated businesses with one to fifty employees
- Professional practices — contractors, consultants, medical, legal, design
- Retail and trades businesses with inventory to track
- Rental property owners and small investment partnerships
- New businesses that need the structure set up correctly from the first transaction
